Junior All-State Band
The Eighth Annual Junior All-State Band Festival will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 14, 15 and 16 during the Indiana Music Education Associaition (IMEA) Professional Development Conference in Ft. Wayne.  The finale concert will be featured on Saturday, January 16 as part of 2016 IMEA Conference.  This will be an exciting opportunity for 100 outstanding students in grades seven through nine.   Questions may be directed to the event co-chairs: BJ Marks or Candi Granlund. Students must verify their availability. We ask that students not apply if they cannot make a commitment to attend the entire Junior All-State event.
The Junior All-State audition will consist of excerpts.  After All-Region registration, each All-Region site will provide a panel of directors to listen to and rank their site’s entries.  Then, all recordings will be sent to a central site, separated by instrument, and sent out for a final listening and ranking.  Please contact your All-Region site host if you are available to listen to your site’s recordings.

Students or directors turn-in their Junior All-State audition recording, application and $10 audition fee (cash or check payable to IBA) at All-Region registration on Saturday, November 14.  No recording / application / fee will be accepted after registration!

Before signing a student’s application form, please confirm the student’s availability for the entire Junior All-State event.  Registration begins Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM at the Grand Wayne Convention Center (Anthony Wayne Ballroom B) located at 120 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, with the first rehearsal beginning at 7:00 PM. The concert is on Saturday, January 16 at 9:30 AM in the Embassy Theater in downtown Ft. Wayne.  The students will be dismissed to parents by 11:00 AM.

Students participating are required to attend all events (100% of every rehearsal) during the festival.  Students unable to make that commitment should not audition.  Students / schools provide their own transportation to Ft. Wayne

Stephen Pratt, Chairman of the Department of Bands at the Indiana University – Jacobs School of Music and a past IBA President, will conduct the 2016 Junior All-State Band.  You may read more about Mr. Pratt at   Directors are welcome to observe the rehearsals.

We will rely on IBA members to volunteer help and expertise as chaperone/staff members (sectionals, etc.).  Please contact coordinators, Candi Granlund or B.J. Marks, if you have questions or are available to help.

Please encourage your students to apply for All-Region Band and to submit an audition application and recording for Junior All-State.  Instructions for producing the CD recording are on the website along with the audition music.  Selected students will participate in a musical experience that your most talented musicians will never forget!
