Junior All-State Band
The Ninth Annual Junior All-State Band Festival will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 12, 13 and 14 during the Indiana Music Education Associaition (IMEA) Professional Development Conference in Ft. Wayne.  The finale concert will be featured on Saturday, January 14 as part of 2017 IMEA Conference.  This will be an exciting opportunity for 100 outstanding students in grades seven through nine.   Questions may be directed to the event coordinators: BJ Marks or Candi Granlund. Students must verify their availability. We ask that students not apply if they cannot make a commitment to attend the entire Junior All-State event.

Application/Recording Upload (Link will open on or after October 12.)
The Junior All-State audition will consist of two excerpts to be recorded and upload with the student application.  The recording may not be electronically edited.  Students submit their application and upload their audition recording online.  NEW THIS YEAR: The application/upload link will open on or after October 12 and close at 9:00 PM EST on November 12. The $10 audition fee may be paid online via PayPal or by check via U.S. mail.   No late entries will be accepted!
Selection Process
A selection committee will review the auditions using a “blind” format.  Student recordings will be assigned a number and the listener will not know the student’s name or school.  Please confirm your students’ availability for the entire Junior All-State event.  Students must participate in 100% of the event activities. 
Registration

Registration begins Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM at the Grand Wayne Convention Center (Anthony Wayne Ballroom B) located at 120 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, with the first rehearsal beginning at 7:00 PM.  The concert is on Saturday, January 14 at 9:30 AM in the Embassy Theater in downtown Ft. Wayne.  The students will be dismissed to parents by 11:00 AM. 

Students participating are required to attend all events (100% of every rehearsal) during the festival.  Students unable to make that commitment should not audition.  Students / schools provide their own transportation to Ft. Wayne

Guest Conductor
Dr. Frank Trace, Director of Bands at the Kansas State University, will conduct the 2017 Junior All-State Band.  You may read more about Dr. Trace at https://www.k-state.edu/media/mediaguide/bios/traczbio.html    Directors are welcome to observe the rehearsals.
Chaperones / Sectional Staff

We will rely on IBA members to volunteer help and expertise as chaperone/staff members (sectionals, etc.).  Candi Granlund and B.J. Marks are the coordinators.  Contact them directly if you have questions or are available to help.
