now for your students to participate in the 34th Annual All-Region
Honor Band Festival. The All-Region Bands provide an excellent
opportunity for your students to have their talents recognized, perform
with other outstanding young musicians and work with highly respected
music educators and conductors. The 2014 Festival Coordinator is Sam Fritz from Center Grove Middle School Central in Greenwood. All
participants are required to attend all rehearsals and the performance
for the All-Region Festival weekend. Students must verify their
availability. We ask that students not apply if they cannot make
a commitment to attend the entire All-Region Festival weekend.
and director summary forms are available on the IBA website. Any IBA member, in good standing, is eligible
to nominate students from grades 7, 8 and 9.
Ninth grade students may apply for either All-Region or All-District,
but not both. Applicants must have
completed one full year of training on their instrument. Completed applications and summary sheet
should be sent to Myron Snuffin, IBA secretary / treasurer. The
postmark deadline for applications is September 12th. Late entries will only be accepted with a $50.00
late fee, provided that the selection process has not begun at your site.
Application and Director Summary
Selection Process: Band directors from each
area will serve on the selection committee responsible for choosing their
respective All-Region Honor Band.
Contact the area host if you are interested in volunteering your
services. Please be accurate and
specific when completing the student’s application form. Students should be ranked
on the application by instrument section.
A director summary form is included to give an overall ranking of all
your students. The written
recommendation is the only criteria used for selection. The application must be complete and signed
by the parent and director or it will be discarded. Each school is guaranteed to have at least
two students selected for participation.
Each student selected for participation will pay
a $35.00 registration fee on Saturday morning November 22. All participants will receive a free
commemorative T-shirt. Each site will
also have lunch available for a nominal fee.
Participating directors should plan to assist
with sectionals on Saturday. Directors
should also make sure each of their selected students is prepared to play all
the music sent to them. Saturday morning
is not the time to work on notes and rhythms.
Please prepare your students!
