Junior All-State Band

The Twelfth Annual Junior All-State Band Festival will be a virtual experience.  While nothing truly can replace the in-person ensemble, we believe the plans that are being made will make this unique experience a worthwhile event for the selected students.  A video performance of the ensemble will be featured as part of the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) Virtual Professional Development Conference.   The video will then be released to the public via YouTube. Questions may be directed to the event coordinators: Rob Shaver or Kati Briel.

2021 Junior All-State Band 2021 Junior All-State Alternates

Dear Student (or Director),

You are receiving this email because you (or at least one of your students) have successfully auditioned for the 2021 IBA Indiana Junior All-State Band.  Well done!

This email contains a lot of important information, so please read it carefully.

Step 1 – Watch this Video Greeting.

Step 2 – Pay your registration fee here and download your music.  The fee is $37.  It is due by Monday, November 30.  When your registration is complete, you will receive a link to download your music.  Be sure to save and/or print your music at this time.

Step 3 – Practice!

Step 4 – Participate in the Zoom Sectional Coaching session on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10am to 11:30am.  See the attached document about sectionals for information and Zoom links.

Step 5 – Record separate videos of yourself playing your parts.  You will receive instructions on how to do this during the sectionals (Step 4).  Please wear all black, or black and white, dress clothes.  The deadline to complete this step is Wed., Dec. 16.

Step 6 – Watch the premier of your performance on the IBA YouTube channel.  The date and time will be announced soon.

Jr. All-State Band Coordinators 

Eligiblity
Outstanding musicians in grades 7 - 9 are eligible for Junior All-State Band.  All selected participants are required to attend the Zoom sectional coaching on Saturday, December 5 and submit their performance video by Wednesday, December 16.  We ask that students not audition if they cannot make a commitment to fulfil these requirements.
Selection

A selection committee will review the auditions using a “blind” format.  Student recordings will be assigned a number and the listener will not know the student’s name or school.

Cost
There will be a $37.00 registration fee assessed per Junior All-State Band member to cover expenses.  This fee is due by Monday, November 30. Once the fee is paid, the band member will receive a computer generated link to his/her part.
Welcome Video
Selected students must submit their performance video by Wednesday, December 16.
