Indiana Band Director Mentoring Project

The Indiana Band Director Mentoring Project is dedicated to supporting the mission of band directors of all grade levels in our state. We are especially committed to the professional development of new teachers and teachers new to Indiana for their transition into the profession. Experienced teachers are encouraged to contact IBA with names of new teachers in their area so that we may initiate contact. Mentors are provided by Phi Beta Mu - Gamma Chapter. In fulfillment of this mission, our goals are:

To assemble a body of experienced teachers across the state to serve as mentors.

To make contact with all new teachers within the state at the start of each academic year.

To connect all new teachers with an experienced mentor in their region who may serve as a continual resource of information and guidance.

To encourage and promote active involvement of our professional music associations within the state and to highlight the educational opportunities that these associations offer for our students and our teachers.

Note: Most music organizations follow the same calendar plan as the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). Each week of the year is numbered with Thanksgiving week always being week #21.
